Meet the Winemaker

“This year will be my 29th harvest – whew! My first 5, 1995-1999, were as an experimental home winemaker’ while meeting with and discussing winemaking philosophy with several would-be mentors like Helen Turley, Burt Williams, Ed Selyem, Michael Brown, Dave Rafinelli, and Ted Seghesio.

Although thumbprint’s winemaking ‘focus’ has been red Bordeaux, several pinot noir and chardonnay clones, and unique Rhône-influences, I have also helped produce several Italian varietals for our clients. From Arnais and Alicante to Vermentino and Viognier – don’t forget Zinfandel, I’ve probably worked with over a hundred clones and varietals. Most of which would be considered ‘‘blender’’ which I’ve also made as stand-alone wines.”
